Federal
Federal Skilled Worker
For applicants with skilled overseas experience, a minimum 67/100 on the FSW eligibility grid, language at CLB 7 and an Educational Credential Assessment.
Canada
Canada runs the most transparent skilled-migration system available to Indian applicants. Draws are held roughly every two weeks and cut-offs are published. That transparency cuts both ways: if your score is short, no amount of optimism changes the outcome — only a better score, a category-based draw or a provincial nomination does.

For qualified trades with two years of experience in the last five and either a Canadian job offer or a provincial certificate of qualification.
Provincial
Over 80 streams across Ontario, British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Nova Scotia and others — some Express Entry aligned, some entirely separate paper-based processes.
Category draws
Healthcare, skilled trades, education, STEM, agriculture, transport and French-language proficiency draws have consistently invited at lower scores than general rounds.
Family
Sponsorship by a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, including the Parents and Grandparents Program and the super visa alternative for long visits.
Settlement fund thresholds are updated annually and do not apply to CEC applicants or those with authorised Canadian work and a valid job offer.
| Stage | Typical duration |
|---|---|
| ECA assessment (WES) | 5–12 weeks |
| Language test result | 2–5 days after test |
| Express Entry profile creation | 1 week once documents are ready |
| Waiting for an invitation | Highly variable — days to over a year, score dependent |
| Full PR application after ITA | 60 days to submit |
| IRCC processing | 6–8 months standard service commitment |
| Provincial nomination (where applicable) | Add 3–9 months depending on stream |
General draw cut-offs through 2025 and early 2026 have largely sat between 470 and 530. Category-based draws for healthcare, trades, education, STEM and French-language proficiency have gone materially lower, sometimes in the 380–450 range. If your general-draw score is below 470, the strategy is usually a category-based route, a provincial nomination, or a targeted CLB improvement.
