Language first, always
Moving from CLB 7 to CLB 9 across all four abilities can add 50 to 100 points once skill transferability is recalculated. It is faster and cheaper than any other lever.

Creating a profile costs nothing and guarantees nothing. Your Comprehensive Ranking System score decides whether you are invited, and your profile sits in the pool for twelve months. The work worth paying for happens before you enter the pool: classifying your experience correctly, maximising language scores, and deciding whether a provincial nomination is your real route.

General draws through 2025 and early 2026 largely sat in the 470 to 530 band. Category-based draws targeting healthcare, skilled trades, education, STEM, agriculture, transport and French-language proficiency have invited materially lower, in some rounds in the 380 to 450 range. Canadian Experience Class rounds have also cleared below general cut-offs. Which draws you are eligible for often matters more than your raw score.
Nobody can tell you the date or cut-off of a future draw. Any consultant who quotes you one is guessing.

NCLC 7 in all four abilities adds up to 50 points and unlocks French-language category draws, which have repeatedly been the lowest cut-offs of the year.
A second eligible post-secondary credential, or a Canadian one-year certificate, changes both the education score and the transferability combinations.
A nomination adds 600 points and effectively guarantees an invitation. The trade-off is a residency commitment and, for most streams, a genuine connection to the province.
Where your partner scores better on age, education or language, switching who is the principal applicant can add 20 to 60 points at no extra cost.
